Exhibition space coordinator
16-20 hours per week, based in Trapani
The Role
We are looking for a curious, organised person with a genuine passion for the visual arts to help bring INCURVA’s space in Trapani to life every day.
The main priority of the role will be to bring audiences into the space, building relationships with schools, associations, groups and local organisations, and developing a regular programme of guided visits. The person will also be the operational point of reference for the space, coordinating invigilation, supporting events and professional visits, and contributing to local communication.
It is a practical and highly people-focused role, suited to someone who is eager to take responsibility, contribute ideas and grow together with the project.
Why INCURVA
INCURVA was founded in 2016 and has spent the past ten years working with artists, curators and contemporary art institutions, producing residencies, exhibitions, films and new commissions. We have collaborated, among others, with Trisha Baga, Lupo Borgonovo, Giulia Cenci, David Horvitz, Beatrice Marchi, Nicola Martini, Lydia Ourahmane, Stephen G. Rhodes and Dominique White; we have also supported productions by artists such as Diego Marcon, presented at the 59th Venice Biennale.
In 2025, we opened our exhibition space in Trapani and have since worked, among others, with Yvo Cho, Dora Budor, Jasper Marsalis, Nina Porter, Jason Hirata and Park McArthur.
Joining INCURVA means being in direct contact with artists, curators and contemporary art professionals, and seeing first-hand how an internationally minded exhibition programme develops. It is an opportunity to learn by doing, build relationships in the field and gradually take on greater autonomy and responsibility within the project.
What You Will Work On
• Audiences and visits: developing the audience for the space and organising guided visits for schools, associations, groups and other local organisations.
• Schools: building and maintaining relationships with schools, teachers and local institutions, with the aim of developing a regular programme of visits.
• Space and invigilation: organising shifts, collaborators and interns, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the space.
• Professional visits: welcoming artists, curators and art professionals passing through Trapani.
• Local relationships and events: developing collaborations with organisations, institutions and local partners, and supporting talks and events.
• Local communication and documentation: posters and materials, relationships with the local press, photography, video and archives.
• Operations: managing small interventions, purchases, transport and suppliers needed for the day-to-day running of the space.
Over time, the person may also become progressively involved in supporting the preparation and production of exhibitions.
Who We Are Looking For
• A genuine passion for contemporary art and the visual arts.
• An interest in working with audiences and the ability to talk about exhibitions in an open and engaging way.
• Good English, necessary for working with international artists and collaborators.
• Independence, reliability, attention to detail and the ability to follow tasks through to completion.
• Initiative and a willingness to build new relationships with schools, associations and local organisations.
• Willingness to take care of the very practical aspects of the work when needed.
• Ease in working with different people and organisations; knowledge of Trapani and the local area, or a willingness to develop it.
We are not necessarily looking for someone who has already held an identical role. We are also interested in meeting people at the beginning of their professional path, as long as they bring curiosity, reliability, a genuine passion for the visual arts and a desire to grow within the project.
