INCURVA is a non-profit organisation that promotes contemporary art from its base in Trapani, Sicily, with the aim of fostering a dialogue rooted in the local context whilst remaining open to a broader perspective.

Founded in 2016, INCURVA ran an annual artist residency programme in Favignana until 2019. From 2020 onwards, deepening its engagement with artists and the development of institutional networks, INCURVA has progressively shifted its focus towards the direct production of artworks, exhibitions, publications and exhibition projects. Along this journey, it has collaborated with, among others, Diego Marcon, Ivan Cheng, Stephen G. Rhodes, Dominique White, Lydia Ourahmane, Trisha Baga, David Horvitz and Giulia Cenci. Throughout its activities, INCURVA has also facilitated donations and acquisitions by public museums and schools.

In 2025, it opened a new exhibition space in Trapani, and an exhibition programme curated by Saim Demircan.

All INCURVA events are free, always, for everyone.

In 2025, the redesign of the space has been conceived as a ‘pseudo-restoration’ by the Milan-based architecture practice BB (led by Alessandro Bava and Fabrizio Ballabio). Intervening discreetly into the existing building, their proposal enhances traces of stratification over time without erasing them. This approach echoes 19th-century Italian restoration theorists, who favored inventing and adding to the past over mere reconstruction. Strategic demolitions and additions such as a wall, a floor and a portal introduce a new interpretation of the space, striking a balance between memory and transformation.
